Each of the two front jacks runs to a Type A female barrel 312 mm behind the plate. Because both ends are Type A female, the installer chooses the length and routing of a standard USB A-to-A or A-to-device cable rather than being locked to a fixed tail. The plate itself is metal and weighs under 0.1 lb, so it adds nothing meaningful to the load on a mounting frame. Data moves at USB 2.0 high speed, 480 Mbps. Extron calls for a minimum of 40 mm behind the faceplate to keep the cable bend radius safe.
