Extron MDP-VGA/6 (part number 26-672-06) — a 6 ft (1.8 m) active adapter cable that drives an analogue VGA display from a dual-mode Mini DisplayPort output.

Digital-to-analogue conversion happens inside the Mini DisplayPort connector shell, powered from the source, which is why the cable has to plug straight into the laptop or PC rather than sitting on the end of an extension. Traffic runs one way only: it will not make a VGA source appear as a Mini DisplayPort output. EDID from the VGA display is returned to the source so the machine offers sensible resolutions rather than guessing, and the run is rated to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz.
