Details
Extron MDA 4V EQ (part number 60-697-01) — a four output composite video distribution amplifier with adjustable gain and equalization on every output, in a quarter-rack metal enclosure.
Long coax runs cost you twice: overall level drops, and the high frequencies drop faster than the low ones, so the picture goes soft as well as dim. The MDA 4V EQ addresses both independently and per output. Gain trims from -1 dB to +3 dB to restore amplitude, while a separate equalization control adds up to +6 dB at 5 MHz to bring the fine detail back. Because both are set per channel, four destinations at four different cable lengths can each be corrected on their own terms. Extron rates the outputs to drive 1000 feet of Mini HR cable, or 1500 feet on RG6 or RG59. A passive loop-through on the input side lets the original signal continue to a local monitor or another amplifier.
Key Capabilities
- Four composite video outputs on female BNC, each with its own gain and EQ adjustment.
- Gain range of -1 dB to +3 dB, a factor of 0.9 to 1.4.
- Equalization of 0 dB to +6 dB at 5 MHz, a factor of 1 to 2.
- 150 MHz bandwidth at -3 dB, 75 ohm impedance, return loss below -30 dB at 5 MHz.
- Passive composite loop-through alongside the input for chaining or local monitoring.
- Handles NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, PAL and SECAM.
Where It Is Used
Campus and building-wide CCTV distribution where camera runs vary in length, broadcast and production facilities feeding distant monitors, large auditoriums and stadiums, industrial process monitoring across a plant, and any legacy composite plant where cable length rather than equipment quality is the limiting factor.
