An HDMI SM cable does two jobs at once. It carries the laptop's HDMI signal to the switcher hidden under the table, and its illuminated Share button tells that switcher which input to select. A three-conductor pigtail leaving the system end handles the contact closure and the tally lamp, so a single cable assembly delivers both the video path and the room's user interface. The 9 ft version buys extra slack for wide tables, deep credenzas or lecterns set back from the connectivity point.
