Details
Extron FOX II T HD 4K MM (part number 60-1351-11) — the multimode send end of Extron's FOX II T HD 4K fiber optic extender, launching HDMI video, multi-channel audio, RS-232 and IR onto a pair of LC-terminated fibers.
This is the transmit-side unit, so it lives with the source. An HDMI input feeds the optical engine while a buffered HDMI loop-through keeps a local confidence monitor alive at the rack. Because this is the MM order code, the optics run at 850 nm for multimode plant: figure roughly 300 m over 62.5 µm OM1, about 1 km over 50 µm OM2, and as much as 2 km over laser-optimized 50 µm OM3 or OM4, inside a 7 dB optical loss budget. Extron lists this transmitter as compatible with its FOX II R DP 4K receiver.
Key Capabilities
- One female HDMI input plus one female HDMI loop-through for a local display
- 850 nm multimode optics reaching about 300 m on OM1, 1 km on OM2 and 2 km on OM3/OM4 fiber
- Carries 640x480 through 4096x2160 at 24/30 Hz, UHD, and 1080p at up to 120 Hz
- Analog audio in on a 3.5 mm stereo jack and a 5-pole captive screw, or de-embedded straight from HDMI
- Balanced audio return output on captive screw, plus bidirectional RS-232 and IR across the fiber
- 7 dB maximum optical loss budget with a -5 dBm typical launch power
Where It Is Used
Multimode HDMI transmitters like this one anchor the source end of in-building fiber runs: hospital equipment rooms feeding operating theatre and imaging displays, campus lecture capture and auditorium rigs, broadcast and post facilities, and control rooms where a copper HDMI run would be both too short and too noisy to trust.
