Extron EWB 101 (part number 60-1161-03) — the white one-gang external wall box for surface-mounted Extron faceplates.

Same steel box as the black version, in the finish that disappears against most commercial wall paint. It is specified whenever an AV outlet has to go onto a wall that has no back box and cannot practically be cut — masonry, glazed partitions, tiled surfaces, or simply a finished room where the plastering is signed off. The 2.50 in depth is what makes it usable: it leaves room to dress and terminate the faceplate wiring rather than crushing it against the wall. Knockouts on the sides take a surface raceway, and the rear opening takes cable from the wall cavity where that is available.
