Details
Extron DA 6A (part number 60-692-20) — a one input, six output stereo audio distribution amplifier in a 1U half-rack metal enclosure with an internal universal power supply.
This is a quiet, deliberately unglamorous piece of infrastructure. One stereo source arrives on a 5-pole captive screw connector, balanced or unbalanced, and six identical stereo feeds leave on the same connector type. Frequency response is flat to within 0.05 dB across the audible band and THD plus noise sits at 0.03% at 1 kHz, so the amplifier adds essentially nothing to the signal. Gain is set by internal jumpers rather than a pot: matched to the output wiring the unit runs at unity, and a mismatch deliberately gives 0 dB or plus or minus 6 dB depending on the combination, which is a useful way to correct level between balanced and unbalanced equipment without an inline pad.
Key Capabilities
- Six stereo outputs, balanced or unbalanced, from a single stereo input.
- Frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within ±0.05 dB referenced at 1 kHz.
- Signal to noise better than 90 dB unweighted at maximum output; THD+N of 0.03% at 1 kHz.
- Common mode rejection above 75 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, useful in electrically noisy racks.
- Stereo separation above 80 dB at 1 kHz and above 60 dB at 20 kHz.
- Drives up to 1000 feet of STP 22 cable per output.
Where It Is Used
Distributed audio in conference and training facilities, overflow and breakout rooms fed from a main mix, broadcast and production monitoring positions, assisted listening and paging feeds, and any rack where a single program feed has to reach several amplifiers, recorders or DSPs without picking up hum.
