Finish is the reason this order code exists. Where a light-toned veneer, maple laminate or aluminum trim would make a black lid stand out, the brushed aluminum top plate reads as part of the furniture instead of hardware bolted into it. Function is unchanged from the rest of the family: a metal body 6.46 in deep, integrated side clamps that bite into surfaces between 0.50 in and 2.50 in thick, and a modular interior serviced from above once the shell is set.
