Extron 3.5 mm, 5 pole, blue, with tail (part number 100-457-01) is the five-position replacement captive screw connector for Extron audio and control terminations, sold ten to a pack.

Five positions cover the wider terminations in an Extron rack - a stereo balanced audio pair sharing a ground, or a control port that carries transmit, receive, ground and a pair of auxiliary lines. Losing one of these plugs takes out more than a single channel, so keeping a bag on the shelf is cheap insurance. The connector mates with the matching 3.5 mm captive screw block and clamps each conductor under its own screw.

Wiring Notes

Extron's audio connector wiring card addresses five-position plugs specifically. Strip to roughly 3/16 in (5 mm) of bare conductor; a longer exposure can let neighbouring contacts touch, and a shorter one lets the wire withdraw even after the screws are set. Do not tin the ends - tinned strands lose form and slacken. With unbalanced sources, land the cable sleeve on the ground position instead of the negative.
