Extron 3.5 mm, 5 pole, blue, no tail (part number 100-460-01) is the five-position captive screw connector built without a strain relief tail, supplied ten to a package.

Five-position blocks carry the wider terminations in an Extron system: stereo balanced audio sharing a ground, or a control port running transmit, receive, ground and auxiliary lines. The tail-free moulding on this version shortens the plug where the block sits behind a panel cut-out or inside a shallow furniture pocket. Every conductor is clamped by its own captive screw, so a technician can re-terminate on site with hand tools alone.

Wiring Notes

Extron's audio connector wiring card deals with five-position plugs directly. Expose roughly 3/16 in (5 mm) of conductor: any more and adjacent contacts may bridge, any less and the wire can withdraw despite tight screws. Do not tin the ends, as tinned strands lose shape and slacken. For unbalanced sources, take the sleeve to the ground contact instead of the negative.
