This is the short tail that lives in a floor box or on the end of a table cable, turning a laptop's USB-C port into an HDMI socket that any standard HDMI lead can plug into. Because the HDMI end is female, the long run stays a normal HDMI cable and only this six-inch piece has to be replaced when a laptop generation changes.
