Extron Surface Mount Kit (part number 70-930-02) — black replacement SpeedMount kit, sold as a pair, for the Extron SM 3 surface mount speaker.
This is the concealed mounting system that ships with the SM 3, offered separately as a spare or replacement. Its purpose is to split speaker installation cleanly between two trades. At rough-in the electrical contractor fixes the mounting plate and terminates speaker cable to the integrated wiring contacts on it — no speaker present, no AV technician required. Later the SM 3 slides onto the plate and locks, and in that same motion the contacts on the speaker mate with the pre-wired contacts on the plate. There is no separate connection step and no visible hardware afterwards. Removal is by a release on the speaker baffle, which is both hidden and lockable; combined with the concealed wiring contacts, it makes the speaker awkward to take off a wall without the right knowledge.
