Extron SMB 111 (part number 70-1097-01, black) — a one-gang surface mount box that puts a US gang-size wallplate on top of a table instead of inside it.

Cutting into furniture is not always an option. Leased rooms, stone or glass tops, historic buildings and mobile carts all rule it out. The SMB 111 solves that by presenting the plate above the surface in a metal enclosure angled at 115 degrees, so connectors face the user rather than the ceiling. It can simply sit on the table, be screwed down with the supplied wood screws, or be clamped with the optional Table Clamp Kit.
