Extron SF 10C SUB (part number 60-1610-01) — a 10 in SoundField subwoofer that installs above a suspended ceiling and stays out of sight.

Ceiling loudspeakers run out of headroom below roughly 70 Hz, which is where music playback in a room starts to sound thin. The SF 10C SUB restores that bottom octave without putting a cabinet on the floor. Extron builds it as a 4th order bandpass in a rigid composite enclosure and hangs it on aircraft cable above the grid, decoupled from the tiles, so the ceiling structure itself does not buzz when the driver moves air. Only the grille adapter shows, through a 7.6 in cutout. The driver takes 400 W of continuous pink noise and 800 W of program from a straight 8 ohm connection.

Where It Is Used

Boardrooms, presentation theatres, houses of worship, fitness studios, retail floors and hospitality spaces already fitted with Extron ceiling or pendant loudspeakers. It also suits rooms where a visible subwoofer cabinet would be unacceptable, since the only exposed component is the grille. Free-standing installation is possible using the optional SMK F SF 10C Plus kit.
