Some devices simply need their mains supply cut when a room shuts down, and running a full networked power distribution unit for one load is overkill. The PC 101 sits between the wall and the device: a male IEC lead on the input side, a female IEC lead on the output side, and a two-pole captive screw port that switches the outlet when its contact pin is pulled to ground. A second captive screw port provides a +5 V tally that follows the AC output, so the control system can read back whether the load is actually energised.
