Extron MDP-DVID/6 (part number 26-673-06) — a 6 ft (1.8 m) active adapter cable that takes a dual-mode Mini DisplayPort output and lands it on a single link DVI-D input.

The conversion happens inside the cable. Circuitry at the Mini DisplayPort end reads the source's dual-mode capability and produces a DVI-D signal, so no separate dongle or power supply is needed. Direction matters: this assembly works from source to display only, it must plug straight into the Mini DisplayPort output with nothing in between, and it will not turn a DVI source into a Mini DisplayPort one. EDID from the DVI display travels back to the source, and HDCP is handled, so protected content plays.
