Running on a Windows PC, J2KENC builds MXF-wrapped Digital Cinema Package (DCP) files that comply with DCI unencrypted-content requirements, then transfers the finished files to a JMP 9600 over a LAN connection via FTP. It removes the need for an outside encoding service when a facility only needs to prepare standard single- or dual-channel content for one player.
