Details
Extron IR Sensor (part number 70-223-01) — a remote infrared receiver on a 6 foot lead for SMD 101 and SMD 202 decoders.
A streaming decoder is usually installed where nobody can see it: behind a display, inside a lectern, on a shelf in a rack. That is fine until someone picks up the handheld remote and nothing happens. The IR Sensor moves the receiving element out to wherever the operator actually stands, on a 6 foot (1.8 m) cord, while the decoder stays put. Extron's installation card gives three conductors to land — red for +5 VDC in, white for the demodulated IR signal, black for ground — and warns against running the sensor cable past 21 feet (6.4 m).
Key Capabilities
- Compact sensor head on a 6 ft (1.8 m) wire lead for flexible placement.
- Pairs with the SMD 101 and SMD 202 H.264 Streaming Media Decoders.
- Accepts commands from the SMD 101 Remote and SMD 202 Remote handhelds.
- Three-wire hookup: +5 VDC in, demodulated IR out, ground.
- Cable run must not be extended beyond 21 ft (6.4 m) per Extron.
- Extron also lists it as an accessory for the IR 102 Universal Remote Control Kit.
Where It Is Used
Digital signage players tucked behind a screen, classroom and auditorium streaming endpoints, hospital and waiting-room displays, and rack-mounted decoder deployments where the IR window would otherwise be buried and the handheld remote would be useless.
