Extron FOX R USB Extender Plus HID SM (part number 60-1526-22) — singlemode fiber receiver for secure USB peripheral extension across campus-scale distances.

Deployed at the user end of a FOX USB Extender Plus link, this receiver terminates the fiber run and rebuilds the USB bus locally, so a host sitting in a distant machine room behaves as though the peripherals were attached directly to it. The 1310 nm singlemode optics stretch the link out to 30 km, far beyond what any copper USB solution can manage. Being the HID build, it also enforces a restriction on what may legitimately be plugged in.
