Details
Extron FOX II R DP 4K MM (part number 60-1462-21) — the multimode receive end of Extron's FOX II DP 4K fiber optic extender, rebuilding DisplayPort video, audio and control at the display side of a long optical run.
Put this unit wherever the screen lives. Two LC-terminated fibers land on the rear panel and the receiver reconstructs a DisplayPort signal, embedded digital audio, a pair of buffered analog audio outputs, and bidirectional RS-232 and IR. Extron builds this receiver in two optical flavors; the MM order code means the transceivers run at 850 nm and the link is sized for multimode plant rather than singlemode. Video is regenerated in under a frame of delay, and EDID emulation keeps the source negotiating correctly with whatever display sits at the far end.
Key Capabilities
- One female DisplayPort output carrying video plus embedded digital audio, alongside a 3.5 mm stereo jack and a 5-pole captive screw connector for analog
- Multimode optical reach of roughly 300 m on 62.5 µm OM1, 1 km on 50 µm OM2, and 2 km on laser-optimized 50 µm OM3 or OM4 fiber
- 7 dB maximum optical loss budget with -12 dBm typical receiver sensitivity on multimode fiber
- Handles 640x480 through 4096x2160 at 30 Hz, plus UHD and 1080p at up to 120 Hz
- RS-232 control at 9600 baud, with a separate pass-through channel that runs 9600 to 115,200 baud
- Balanced audio return input on captive screw for talkback or a program feed back toward the transmitter
Where It Is Used
Fiber DisplayPort receivers of this class sit at the display end of campus, hospital and government installations where copper simply cannot span the distance — imaging suites fed from a remote equipment room, courthouse and command center video walls, university lecture theatres, and simulation labs where electrical isolation between buildings matters as much as picture quality.
