White is the most-specified EWB finish, which is why the older code for it still turns up regularly in service requests. This is that box: a pressed steel single-gang enclosure that mounts on the wall face rather than inside it, with 2.50 in of depth so the faceplate wiring can be dressed properly. Cable enters through the raceway knockouts on the box or from the wall cavity at the rear, so it suits both surface-trunked rooms and installations where the cabling is already in the wall but no back box was ever fitted.
