Details
Extron DPM-VGAF (part number 26-664-01) — an active, one-way adapter that takes a dual-mode DisplayPort output and presents it as a VGA female connector on a short pigtail.
Legacy analog projectors and flat panels outlive the laptops that feed them. This adapter closes that gap: plug the latching DisplayPort end directly into the source, and a 6 inch pigtail terminates in a hex-nutted VGA female socket ready for a standard VGA cable run. It works to the DisplayPort 1.1a specification and carries signals to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz, plus 1080p/60, at a 24-bit colour depth. EDID from the attached VGA display is passed back to the source, so the laptop sees a real display description rather than guessing. Note that the adapter is powered from the DisplayPort port and must sit directly at the source; do not insert cables or other adapters ahead of it.
Key Capabilities
- Connects dual-mode DisplayPort sources to VGA projectors and flat panel displays.
- Carries resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz and HDTV 1080p/60.
- Colour depth of 24 bits, at 8 bits per colour.
- EDID from the VGA display is passed back to the source device.
- Latching DisplayPort connector and hex nuts on the VGA end secure both connections.
- Gold-plated contacts on all surfaces; complies with the VESA Interoperability Guideline.
Where It Is Used
Classrooms and lecture halls still running analog projectors, meeting rooms with older flat panels on a VGA plate, training facilities standardised on VGA cabling, and rental or staging kits where the presenter's laptop is an unknown quantity. The 6 inch pigtail form keeps the weight off the laptop's DisplayPort socket.
