Extron DP DA2 (part number 60-1221-01) — a one input, two output DisplayPort distribution amplifier in a half-rack 1U metal chassis.
Feeding two displays from one DisplayPort source sounds trivial until HDCP or EDID gets in the way. The DP DA2 handles both: Key Minder keeps HDCP authentication live on every connected device so content reaches both screens at once, and EDID Minder holds the EDID conversation open so the source never loses track of what it is driving. Automatic input cable equalization reshapes a weak incoming signal, good for a 25 foot input run at 2560x1600 and 60 Hz using Extron DisplayPort Series cable, which often removes the need for a separate conditioning stage. Both outputs support Dual-mode DisplayPort, so HDMI, DVI or VGA displays can be fed through the appropriate adapter.
Key Capabilities
- Handles DisplayPort data rates to 10.8 Gbps, or 2.7 Gbps per lane, with a 268 MHz maximum pixel clock.
- Passes PC resolutions to 2560x1600 at 60 Hz in normal mode, and 3840x1080 at 60 Hz when extending a desktop across both displays.
- Outputs mute independently over RS-232 or contact closure, useful for previewing on a local monitor.
- Front panel LEDs report EDID status, HDCP authentication and signal presence per port.
- Front-panel mini USB B port and RS-232 both accept Extron Simple Instruction Set commands.
- Draws 4.3 watts, cools by convection with no vents, and weighs half a pound.
Where It Is Used
Typical placements are a boardroom where the presenter display and a confidence monitor need the same feed, a classroom mirroring a lectern PC to a projector and a front panel, a control room duplicating a workstation to an overview screen, and clinical review areas that pair a primary diagnostic display with a secondary panel.
