Livongo Announces First Cellular-Enabled Blood Pressure Monitoring System
Orange County, CA - September 21st, 2018 - Having high blood pressure (hypertension) increases a person's risk of having a stroke or a heart attack. According to the American Diabetes Association, 71 percent of adults with diabetes had a blood pressure of greater or equal to 140/90 or were taking medications to help normalize their blood pressure between 2000 and 2012.

Livongo, a digital health company wanted to make it easier to monitor blood pressure at home. Earlier this week they announced the first cellular-enabled blood pressure monitoring system available in the United States. It comes with a smartphone app and an online platform for managing and sharing the readings. The product comes with real-time online support from licensed professionals who are certified to help with managing chronic conditions.
The device has cellular connectivity which allows patients to easily check and report their readings. The blood pressure data uploads its measurements to the Livongo cloud platform, without having to connect it to a Wi-Fi network. People who already use Livongo for Diabetes also have hypertension. The company took an integrated approach to make it easier for patients who are managing multiple conditions to stay healthy.

The Silicon Valley firm was set to introduce the hypertension solution at the Health 2.0 conference in Santa Clara, California earlier this week.
