HOW A HANDHELD DEVICE IS CONNECTING PATIENTS AND PHYSICIANS OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE

Orange County, CA - September 19th 2016 - In 2015, Israeli company TytoCare was recognized on the Global Digital Health 100 List, an accomplishment marked by demonstration of true innovation and an ability to change the delivery of healthcare. This recognition was earned with their Tyto, a handheld device that records different health parameters to deliver reliable, remote examinations to patients.

Imagine having a checkup in the comfort of your own home without the long wait, tedious paperwork, and exposure to airborne pathogens you get at healthcare facilities. Healthcare industry entrepreneur Dedi Gilad made it a reality with Tyto, a device that enables anyone to perform a comprehensive medical exam anywhere, anytime. Inspiration for the device stemmed from his experience as a parent and his hope of helping other frustrated parents.

While awaiting FDA clearance, TytoCare is already pursuing multiple business opportunities and collaborations with companies such as Walgreens. Developers believe once the device hits the market the price will be affordable for customers, and will gain the further support from insurers and employers. The company predicts that the technology will expand beyond the field of pediatric care.

The small device offers 6 different examinations; heart, lung, ear, skin, throat, and temperature. Connected to smartphones through a mobile application, the Tyto module guides the operator through the examination process. The interface is both intuitive and safe with no necessary training for operation.

A live appointment can be requested at any time, which schedules a virtual appointment with a physician who can view the exam data in real time. This allows the individual to be guided through the assessment, and ensure secure dispatch of results to a hospital of your choosing if further aid is required. All TytoCare products are HIPPA compliant and meet US regulatory standards. On the physician side, there is the TytoPro; able to capture digital exam data, integrate with patient health records, and share exams with patients to educate and motivate patients and other physicians for second opinions.

The goal of Tyto is to avoid unnecessary visits to the emergency room, as well as assist patients in rural areas who have more difficulty getting access to medical specialists. Adoption rates for telemedicine are significantly higher in rural areas compared to urban areas. Implementing more telemedicine services will increase the quality of care received by patients worldwide. With the number of people using telemedicine predicted to increase to 7 million in 2018, this medical innovation definitely has the capacity to change how healthcare is procured.
